Creating a deluxe period frame for each of the influential artists Yates covers here, his amazing grasp of finesse and stylistic subtleties is almost innuendo-fine. Differing between B.B. King, Earl King and T-bone Walker with ease, his respect for each artist holds up even when he hits the gas on some of the phrases as is de rigueur in live blues shows, and he possesses a lot of inflection in his young voice. Calling Yates McKendree promising would be criminally under-serving his potential.”
